After months of speculations and those elongated waits, we seem to have confirmation that Windows Mobile 6.5, the stopgap mobile OS platform from Microsoft is finally "ready" to be rolled out.
In fact, it seems only an official announcement is pending, which might happen in the very near future. As for the OS, first impressions come from the developers themselves who testify that the OS "looks really good". We'll have to see how true that claim is. However, from what we know of the OS from the screenshots we have come across, we will for now concur with the developers. After all, it's the usability and response that matters. We will soon get to know how this one fares on that front.

Microsoft has posted a video preview of the OS running on an HTC Touch Pro which can be viewed here. The video shows the much talked about MyPhone feature, Microsoft's online backup service, which will backup your data online so that you may recover it whenever you need it.
Many 6.1 laded handsets await the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5 as they can be upgraded to the latest version. The next version of the OS, Windows Mobile 7, is expected next year
